Let me first say, I’m a huge fan of Podcasts.  I love to listen to them on TuneIn during work or while I am riding my bike and
have even created and hosted one for The Center Center for Sales Strategy.  One of my favorite things about Podcasts is that they are simple to create and are becoming somewhat of an alternative distribution channel for those wanting to develop an audience similar to radio. Yes, a gazillion watt radio station that’s been around for a 100 plus years can certainly broadcast a signal that everyone for miles around can hear, but radio isn’t the only solution for individuals and businesses wanting to develop a talk format.  It’s not easy, and requires a lot of work to build an audience but for businesses and individuals looking to be true thought leaders in their industry, it’s something certainly worth looking at.

I see the future of Podcasting being very bright and was excited to see this article from Ad Age in my inbox this morning.

In this Ad Age article, there were a few stats provided from a recent study on the future of Podcast spending by advertisers.  The findings that were referenced in the article present a compelling case that advertisers are seeing Podcasts as somewhere to move their ad spend to:

Just under 60% said they have “discussed podcast advertising for potential media investment,” up from 41% who said they’d done so last fall.

Some 21% of advertiser and agency executives said in a July survey that they already advertise on podcasts, up from 15% last September, Advertiser Perceptions said.

And 21% said they plan to advertise on podcasts in the next six months, up from 10%; 28% said they would definitely consider it, up from 18%.

Advertiser Perceptions polled 284 executives at marketers and agencies in July and 310 last September.
